چکیده
It is noteworthy to explore potential measures for further reducing the aerodynamic drag and noise of high-speed pantographs. This paper proposes a method introducing spanwise waviness into upper lower arms. The improved delayed detached eddy simulation (IDDES) Ffowcs Williams Hawkings (FW-H) equation are used flow field sound propagation calculation, respectively. effects wavelength, wave amplitude inclination on force radiated cylinder were firstly investigated, then characteristics pantograph with without configurations compared. Results show that appropriate can diffuse negative pressure core area in wake, reduce amplitude, suppress vortex shedding weaken fluctuation force, resulting reduction noise. For by waviness, when ratio wavelength diameter 1.2 1/8 respectively, reduced 1.58% 1.16 dBA,

Numerical study on the aerodynamic drag of drafting cyclist groups
This paper presents a Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) investigation of the aerodynamic effects of drafting in cycling. In drafting, cyclists ride close behind each other to reduce aerodynamic drag. The CFD simulations for single cyclists and for a group of two cyclists are successfully compared with wind-tunnel measurements. Both CFD simulations and wind tunnel measurements show that also th...
متن کاملNumerical Investigation on the Effect of Tunnel Height on Drag Reduction in a High Speed Trimaran
There are different methods to reduce drag in high speed hulls. One of these methods is a change in the shape of the body by adding longitudinal side tunnels. In this paper it has been attempted to determine the influence of the tunnel height on hydrodynamic characteristics of the hull to achieving an optimum shape for the tunnel. To achieve this purpose, numerical simulation of the problem has...
متن کاملTurbulent Drag Reduction by Spanwise Wall Oscillations
The objective of this paper is to examine the effectiveness of wall oscillation as a control scheme of drag reduction. Two flow configurations are considered: constant flow rate and constant mean pressure gradient. The Navier-Stokes equations are solved using Fourier-Chebyshev spectral methods and the oscillation in sinusoidal form is enforced on the walls through boundary conditions for the sp...
متن کاملPantograph noise measurements in Madrid-Sevilla high speed train (AVE)
Ten years ago, the first Spanish high speed line which traveled from Madrid to Sevilla at an average speed of 250 km/h was inaugurated. At this speed pantograph noise, which is of an aerodynamic nature, is thought to have rather influence in the passengers zone. However, pantograph contribution is often omitted since main noise sources are expected to come from wheels and devices placed under t...
